Natuurmonumenten and Landschap Noord-Holland jointly offer preservation activities close to Amsterdam. The activities in spring and summer include maintenance of verges, reed land and flowery meadows. In the fall maintenance of willow knots, tree removal and the creation of heaps for ring snakes.

Why is this place so special?

T ogether with other (local) people, you help to preserve one of the most beautiful areas in the Netherlands. The Ilperveld is a vast, quiet, beautiful water area with hundreds of islands of peat and countless ditches, canals and reed collars. The vegetation along the ditch is rich. You'll find bushes, crow heathland and even sundew. Cows, sheep and goats graze the land.

The Ilperveld is also home to many bird species; they find their perfect habitat here. During the migration period, Ilperveld is a refuge for thousands of passers-by, such as wigeons, curlews, geese and many other unusual birds.
